LAGOS, Nigeria – The Labour Party(LP) has picked Professor Akin Oshuntokun as Director General of the Presidential Campaign Council, (PCC) of the party.
The position of the DG LPPCC became vacant following resignation of Dr. Doyin Okupe, after his conviction for alleged money laundering offence.
Oshuntokun will now lead the campaign of the Labour Party until the election in February 2023.
Born 1961, Professor Akin Oshuntokun was former Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) and was Special Adviser to former president of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo between 1999 and 2007.
A political strategist, Oshuntokun was also DG Presidential Campaign Council of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in 2007.
Oshuntokun who was also former Managing Director of Oodua Printing Corporation is the Balogun of Okemesi. He was named the Balogun by Ooni of Ife, Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi.
The title of Balogun Okemesi was previously held by Fabunmi Okemesi, who led the Kiriji War between 1877 and 1893.
