Suspension of Doyin Okupe is null and void – LP

ABEOKUTA, Ogun, Nigeria – The national body of Labour Party, LP has described the suspension of the Director General of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Organisation, Dr. Doyin Okupe by the Ogun State chapter of the party as unconstitutional, null and void.
Addressing a press conference, national chairman of the party, Alhaji Umar Farouk said the Ogun state chapter acted outside the constitution of the party and that there are internal mechanism for resolving conflicts which has not been followed.
He said Doyin Okupe remains a card carrying member of the party and that the party is aware of infiltration of party leadership by those threatened by the march of Labour Party that the reality that the party will win the Presidential election.
He said the party remains united and will not be distracted by antics of politicians. He said the party has enshrined internal mechanism and other internal procedures which has not been followed by the Ogun State Chapter.
He said there is not even a petition against Doyin Okupe. “Therefore they are on their own and we are going to set up a disciplinary committee to take appropriate action against those responsible for the suspension”, he said.
The Ogun State chapter of the LP has said Okupe and 11 others were suspended for not paying party dues.
