LAGOS, Nigeria – The Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) has said that it will purchase about 200,000 Bimodal Voter Accreditation System(BVAS) machines to be deployed in the 2023 Presidential election.

INEC National Commissioner in charge of voter education, Mr. Festus Okoye who made the revelation on a programme on Nigerian Info  on Monday morning was speaking in respect of the N305 billion INEC said it required for the 2023 presidential election.

According to him, part of the money will be spent on the BVAS machines, adding that INEC will in addition deploy about 1 million  adhoc staff which will be paid and provided with accommodation.

He explained that some INEC offices are in a state of disrepair that needed to be made ready for the election in addition to those that have been burnt and vandalized all over the federation that have to be put in order before the election.

The INEC spokesman advised those with issues with their Permanent Voters Card to visit INEC website or the nearest INEC state or local government offices for solution.

He said INEC is happy with the recent adjustment made by the National Assembly in the Amended Electoral Act 2010 with regards to  making primaries by political parties either open or through a consensus.
