September 11, 2015 – Not less than 87 people have been killed and 180 others injured in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, following sudden collapse of a red crane on a mosque filled with adherents of Islam.
The cause of the accident is not known, but the incident happened at a time when Muslims from all over the world are warming up to visit Mecca, for the annual pilgrimage.
BBC reported that a video posted on YouTube, which could not be independently verified, appeared to record the moment the crane fell, with a loud crash heard in the background followed by panic and shouting.
“Images circulating on Twitter appeared to show numerous bodies and blood on the floor of the mosque”, it added.
