86 rented apartments uncovered under a federal bridge in Lagos

LAGOS, Nigeria – Not less than 86 rented apartments have been uncovered under a federal bridge in the Ikoyi-Obalende axis.

Officials of the Lagos State Ministry of Environment uncovered the rented settlement under the bridge at Dolphin in Ikoyi.

According to the Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab,  the 86 rooms were partitioned into 10X10 and 12X10 apartments in addition to a container used for different illegal activities.

He said the illegal structures have all been removed and that 26 miscreants living under the facility  were also arrested.

Some of the residents alleged they pay up to N250,000 under the bridge per annum and that the apartments were provided for them by estate agents.
