KANO, Nigeria – Not less than 80 people have been arrested for eating publicly during the Ramadan in Kano State. Former Minister for Aviation, Mr. Femi Fani- Kayode made the revelation on his social media page.

Followers of Islams are fasting this period for 29 days and eating in the public in some parts of the North, notably, Kano, Zamfara other state is seen as intended to spite followers of Islam, Joseph Zaka, a Muslim said.

He noted that the month of Ramadan is seen as a month of intense moral training as Muslims see it as a special duty prescribed by God. “And because they believe that sins may spoil record of fasting with God, they through great lengths making sure they are at their best behavior”, he added.

“A fasting person empties his stomach of all the material things: to fill his soul with peace and blessings, to fill his heart with love and sympathy, to fill his spirit with piety and Faith, to fill his mind with wisdom and resolution,” says H. Abdalati in Islam in Focus.
