ILE-IFE, Osun, Nigeria – Not less than five people have been killed and several others injured as Yoruba and Hausa people clashed in Sabo area of Ile-Ife, Osun State.

The clash according to eyewitness broke out Tuesday night following a rift between a Hausa man and a Yoruba woman. The cause of the rift is not clear as at press time but there are allegations that that some Hausa men were accused of raping and harassing wives of Yoruba men in the Sabo area of Ile-Ife, forcing Yoruba men in the area to launch an attack on Hausa community .

Already, properties worth millions of Naira have been destroyed in the violence which seems to have continued on Wednesday morning.
Fear has so far gripped traders in Lageere, Sabo and Obalufon who have currently gone into hiding.
