Lagos, Nigeria, Oct 9, 2016 – At least four people have been confirmed dead when suspected armed robbers escaping with Hyundai IX 35 car(gray) snatched at gunpoint lost control on top speed, crashed the car on the metal railings on Eko Bridge before landing like a plane about 20 feet down on a passerby who died on the spot.


Confirming the incident, General Manager of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency(LASEMA), Mr. Mr. Adesina Tiamiyu said that three of the suspected armed robbers died on the spot , one escaped with injury, while the fifth person injured in the incident has been taken to the hospital for medical attention.

He said that Items found on the suspected armed robbers include one locally made double barrel pistol with five live cartridges; one laptop, a GSM phone and one Dollar note.

According to him, the agency received a distress call regarding a lone accident on Iddo bridge at about 2.15 pm on Sunday 9th October 2016.

“On arrival at the scene of the incident, the Emergency Response Team of the agency discovered a grey coloured Hyundai ix 35 with registration number SMK 485 CM which skidded off Eko bridge by Iddo Terminus and fell on a man who died immediately.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle was suspected to have been snatched at gun point with five suspected armed persons.


“Three of the suspected armed robbers died immediately; one escaped with injury while the fifth person was taken to the Hospital for treatment by LASAMBUS. The dead bodies ( three suspected armed robbers and one other person identified as a mechanic named Nwamba) were handed over to SEHMU and were subsequently taken to the Mortuary, while vehicle was towed to Denton Police State Ebute Metta by the Agency”, he said.

He advised Lagosian to be security conscious adding that that proper investigation would be carried out by the Nigerian Police Force on the incident.
