AHMEDABAD, India – One survivor, 250 dead in Air India crash is definitely one of the greatest miracles in crash history globally.
The Air India plane, Flight AI 171 with 242 people on board crashed few minutes after take off on BJ Medical College and Hospital hostel in Ahmedabad.
At least eight people including a medical doctor was killed in the building.
According to Air India, there were 169 Indian nationals, 53 Britons, seven Portuguese and one Canadian on the flight.
The sole survivor on the London bound plane, Vishwashkumar Ramesh, a Briton sat on the ill-fated plane with his brother who didn’t survive the crash.
Ramesh, according to reports only had few scratches and a little burn and had to unstrap and get himself out of the plane before calling his relatives to assure them that he is fine.
So far, the two flight recorders also called Black Box have been recovered said Air India and will be sent to experts for examination.
Meanwhile Air India has set up Friends & Relatives Assistance Centres at Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Delhi and Gatwick airports to provide support and take care of the needs of the families and loved ones of those on flight AI171.
These centres according to Air India are facilitating the travel of family members to Ahmedabad.
