Protest: DG of Paul Chukwuma Campaign Council dumps APC to support Soludo’s re-election

Maduako Igbokwe I Sunday, April
AWKA, Anambra – Hon. Ibezi Ifeanyichukwu, the Director General of the Paul Chukwuma Campaign Council and a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has officially left the APC to endorse the re-election bid of Prof. Charles Soludo, the incumbent governor of and candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
Ibezi, who previously represented the Idemili North and South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, explained that his decision to abandon the APC was driven by his belief that the party is unprepared to secure victory in the upcoming governorship election.
He clarified that his defection was a protest against the victory of Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, who had emerged as the APC’s candidate despite being considered less electable than other aspirants within the party.
Ibezi believes that the party’s internal dynamics are not conducive to winning the election, which ultimately led him to support Soludo’s re-election.
Speaking at a gathering in his hometown of Abatete, Idemili North Local Government Area, Ibezi said his new allegiance to Governor Soludo was because APC gave ticket to a hard to sell candidate.
According to him, given the good works Soludo is doing it is crucial for him to serve a second term, especially considering the APC’s failure to present a viable candidate.
During the meeting, Ibezi shared his plan to mobilize support for Soludo, particularly in the Idemili region, which he has successfully delivered for both Tinubu in 2021 and Soludo in the past election.
He said that he is committed to ensuring that the votes from the 710 polling units in Idemili North and South will go in favor of Soludo in the upcoming November election.
“I will deliver the votes of Idemili North and South as I did in previous elections. Just as I ensured victory for Tinubu in 2021 and Soludo in the last election, I will do the same in November.
“Soludo must secure a second term. I’ve personally inspected his projects and I know he is delivering. If your party is failing, what else can you do but support a more competent candidate?
“Do you want to be stuck in stagnation for the next eight years? If you have been following me all these years and still haven’t learned how politics works, then perhaps you’re not paying attention. I urge you to stop attending political meetings at my house if you don’t understand what is at stake.”he said.
Ibezi however made it clear that his full support is now firmly behind Soludo, signaling a significant shift in his political allegiance.
