Ex-VP Ohanaeze Ndigbo urges Soludo to lead South East Governors’ economic integration

AWKA, Anambra- The immediate past National Vice President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief Damian Okeke Ogene, has advised the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Soludo, to take the lead in fostering economic integration within the South East region.

He urged the governors of the five South East states to work together towards the stability, integration, and development of the zone.

Chief Okeke Ogene offered this advice during a conversation with newsmen on Tuesday in Awka, the Anambra State capital, as part of celebrations marking the three-year anniversary of Governor Soludo’s tenure in office.

He also appealed to the South East governors to adopt the vision and courageous spirit demonstrated by Governor Soludo in addressing the insecurity that had nearly crippled the state’s progress.

Okeke Ogene emphasized that the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, under President General Senator John Azuka Mbata is committed to making the states in the South East region more integrated and urbanized, in line with the Southeast Development Commission (SEDC).

He noted that the political differences among South East governors should be seen as a thing of the past, as Ndigbo consider themselves united now.

He stated that whether one comes from Anambra, Imo, Abia, or any other South East state, it should not create division among Ndi Igbo.

He further stated that any governor who is not working towards the interconnectivity of the South East is not serving the best interests of Ndigbo, regardless of their personal beliefs.

He urged Governor Soludo to lead the charge, as he has done exceptionally well in transforming Anambra State over the past three years.

Okeke Ogene praised Soludo’s vision and master plan, suggesting it could be extended to neighboring states for broader regional progress.

According to Okeke Ogene, in the eyes of the average Anambra citizen, Governor Soludo has made remarkable well in bringing development to the state, and he should take the lead in the integration of the South East region.

He highlighted the governor’s achievements in various sectors, noting that the massive infrastructure development, including flyovers and bridges, improvements in education and healthcare, youth empowerment, restoration of public water supply, prudent resource management, and effective security measures, have established Anambra State as a model for others to follow under Soludo’s leadership.

Okeke Ogene remarked that the governor’s performance has solidified his preparedness to lead the people of Anambra State and he has surpassed the promises made during his election campaign, justifying the trust and mandate given to him by the people.
