Outrage as Israel continues to detain Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, Medical Director, Kamal Adwan Hospital

GAZA, Palestine – There is outrage in Palestine over continued detention of the Medical Director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya in terrible and humiliating conditions.

The family have said he is detained in terrible condition and subjected to severe maltreatment and torture.

The only consolation they have is that his lawyer told the family after meeting him that he is suffering from high blood pressure and now has an enlarged heart muscle and urgently in need of medical attention.

According to the lawyer, the authority in Israel only provide him with one meal per day and food not suitable to sustain his life.

Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya was arrested from the hospital where he was labouring to assist innocent Palestinians subjected to continuous bombing by the Israeli Defence Forces, IDF.

He sacrificed his life and refused to abandon innocent victims of the conflict before he was abducted by Israel and taken away.

Palestinians are calling for his release, stressing that he is just a Palestinian who wants to help his people and that is no crime.
