WASHINGTON, United States – President Donald Trump has signed executive order imposing sanctions on officials of the International Criminal Court, ICC for imposing arrest warrants on Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu and his former War Minister, Yoav Gallant.
The ICC slammed warrants of arrest on the two, particularly Netanyahu for committing crimes against humanity and war crimes in the Gaza Strip despite global outrage.
His war on Gaza, following October 7 attack by Islamic Resistant Movement in Gaza, Hamas has killed over 47,500 Palestinians, most of them innocent children and women, destruction of infrastructure in Gaza, rendering the Gaza Strip uninhabitable.
Netanyahu did not spare UN workers and medical personnel. He killed over 400 medical personnel and UN workers in direct airstrikes.
But the ICC warrants outraged US lawmakers who at a stage threatened to invade the ICC and muted the idea of making laws to criminalize actions of the ICC.
In signing the Executive Orders during the state visit of Netanyahu, Trump said,
“Our measures against the International Criminal Court may include banning property and assets and suspending the entry of its officials into our country International criminal efforts to arrest, detain, or prosecute represent an extraordinary threat to US national security”, he was quoted as saying.
