Google, Apple to delist Tiktok in U.S following Supreme Court ruling
WASHINGTON- In what appears to be overt attempt to arm twist China, the Supreme Court of the United States today slammed the Gavel on existing ban on Chinese brand, Tiktok, insisting that the ban will become legitimate if by Sunday, ByteDance refuses to sell the brand to an interested party in the United States.
Tiktok Chief Executive Officer, Shou Zi Chew is however looking forward to the administration of President Donald Trump who will be inaugurated on Monday for way out of the current impasse.
Trump had said he will make decision on the application as soon as he assumes power.
Tiktok was banned in the United States following a bi-partisan vote by both the Republicans and Democrats.
There has been outrage in U.S about the application over its link with the Chinese government and its influence on younger generation in the United States.
Based on the decision of the court, Google and Apple will cease to make the service available to new users in the United States.
ByteDance has vowed it will not sell the application but would rather shut operation in the U.S.
