Israeli soldier killed, 3 severely injured in battle with Hezbollah in Southern Lebanon

LEBANON – The Israeli Defence Forces, IDF has announced the death of one soldier, Sergeant First Class (Res.) Omer Moshe Gaeldor. He is 30 years old.

In a statement, Spokesman of the IDF, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said  Sergeant First Class (Res.) Omer Moshe Gaeldor  is from Jerusalem and was until his death  a soldier from the 5111st Battalion, Golani Brigade.

He said he was killed during combat in southern Lebanon. He added that during the incident in which Sergeant First Class (Res.) Omer Moshe Gaeldor fell, three soldiers from the 5111st Battalion, Golani Brigade, were severely injured.

He said the soldiers that were injured were evacuated to receive medical treatment at a hospital and that their families have been notified.

In addition, the IDF said during operations in southern Lebanon IDF troops found a weapons depot, including ammunition, firearms, explosives, and an observation post in the courtyard of a school in a village in southern Lebanon.

“The weapons were confiscated. This serves as further proof of Hezbollah’s cynical use of civilian infrastructure for its terrorist activities, which endangers the residents of southern Lebanon.

“During searches in the area, the troops located and dismantled an underground terrorist infrastructure dozens of meters long where hundreds of weapons, ammunition, cannons, RPGs, and more, were located and confiscated.

“IDF troops continue conducting limited, localized, targeted raids based on precise intelligence to neutralize and dismantle terrorist infrastructure in southern Lebanon”, he said.
