INEC declares Lucky Aiyedatiwa winner of Ondo election

 AKURE, Ondo – The Independent National Electoral Election, INEC today declared the governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa as winner of the election.

Aiyetiwa who is the present governor of the state polled a total of 366, 781  votes to defeat his closet rival, Hon Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) who scored just  117,845 votes, while candidate of the African Democratic Congress(ADC), Prince Adeyemi Nejo, came a distant third with 4,138 votes.

A total of 508,963 voters were accredited, 12 896 votes were rejected while 497,077 were actual votes cast in during the  election, Returning officer, Professor Akinwumi Olayemi Durotimi said.

He thereafter declared Aiyedatiwa winner, having polled the highest number of votes .

According to him, Aiyedatiwa met all the constitutional requirements and declared him Governor-elect of Ondo State.
