Six German cities hosts handball games in 2027
COLOGNE – The 2027 men’s handball world championships will be played in six German cities, with the final to be played in Cologne like in 2007.
Organizers said on Monday that the preliminary round will be played in Kiel, Magdeburg, Munich and Stuttgart, the main round in Cologne and Hanover, and the medal round in the 20,000-seat arena in Cologne.
The 32-team tournament is scheduled for January 13 or 14 until January 31, 2027. These venues combine many of the things that make us special: they are centres of the Bundesliga, they stand for tradition, but also for modernity,” German handball federation president Andreas Michelmann said.
“With this great infrastructure, we are ready for another highlight in the decade of handball.”
Germany will be hosting the championships for an eighth time, the last being in 2019 when it shared the event with Denmark.
