SWEDEN – The Swedish government has launched a policy that will see many immigrants voluntarily existing the country.
Under this arrangement, any immigrant family that agrees to go back to country of origin will receive up to 40, 000 Krona, about USD 34,000, which is over 56 million Naira.
The program tagged voluntary migrant return will start start in 2026.
Under the new law migrants who agree to leave the country and return home will receive 10,000 Swedish krona per adult, 5,000 krona per child, and up to 40,000 krona per family.
The Swedish Government is intensifying its efforts to reduce, in full compliance with Sweden’s international commitments, the number of migrants coming irregularly to Sweden.
“Labour immigration fraud and abuses must be stopped and the ‘shadow society’ combated”, the government said in a statement.
It added that Sweden will continue to have dignified reception standards, and that those who have no grounds for protection or other legal right to stay in Sweden must be expelled.
