Spain receives Arab committee on Gaza ceasefire, Palestine

SPAIN – The Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Spain Pedro Sánchez today, received members of the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit on Gaza and the State of Palestine in his office in Spain.
Members of the ministerial committee discussed the importance of providing continued support to activate recognition of the Palestinian state to ensure that the entitled rights of the Palestinian people are met and to promote security and peace in the region and the world in the face of extremism, the spread of violence, and the continued violations of international law.
The meeting reviewed the urgent efforts to take the necessary steps to implement the two-state solution by establishing a Palestinian state along the lines of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in light of the Arab Peace Initiative and relevant international initiatives.
Members of the ministerial committee emphasised the need for the Israeli occupation army to withdraw from the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing and the Philadelphia axis and to restore full control to the Palestinian Authority.
The meeting also discussed the efforts made to stop Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and the dangerous escalation in the West Bank, the need for an immediate ceasefire, and the entry of sufficient and sustainable humanitarian aid to all parts of the Strip.
The meeting addressed the need to stop the Israeli settlement expansion and activate international accountability mechanisms for all violations of international law and international humanitarian law in a way that achieves just and comprehensive peace, preserves the rights of the Palestinian people, and achieves security in the region.
They visited under the chairmanship of His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and in the presence of His Excellency the Prime Minister of the State of Palestine Dr. Mohammed Mustafa, His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Mr. Ayman Al-Safadi, His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye, Mr. Hakan Fidan, His Excellency the Secretary General of the League of Arab States, Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, His Excellency the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Mr. Hissein Brahim Taha, and His Excellency Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi in Madrid, Spain.
The meeting was attended by the foreign ministers and representatives of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Kingdom of Norway, the Republic of Slovenia, and the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Mr. Josep Borrell.
