KHAN YOUNIS – There is frustration in the Al- Mawasi refugee camp, Khan Younis hitherto certified as a safe zone by the Israeli Defence Forces, IDF, following the decision of the occupation forces to drop a 2000 pound bomb in the area, leading to the deaths of dozens and disappearance of over 20 tents.
The bomb which caused a crater of over six feet on impact has caused alot outcry among residents of the refugee camp.
Gaza Civil Defense said some families disappeared completely, while dozens of people were martyred, adding that the situation was catastrophic after the horrific attack in the camp in southern Gaza.
The bomb, the agency said created some very deep holes in the targeted area while more than 20 tents completely disappeared.
Speaking on the massacre, the Palestinian Resistant Movement, Hamas said the massacre committed by the occupation army in Khan Yunis led to the deaths of dozens of civilians, most of them women and children.
It added that the claims of the occupation army that there were resistance elements in the targeted area are nothing but a blatant lie.
“The resistance has repeatedly confirmed its denial of the presence of any of its elements among the civilian gatherings or the use of these places for military purposes”, Hamas said.
In its reaction, the Resistance Committees in Palestine said the occupation’s massacre against displaced people in Mawasi Khan Yunis is a new episode in the series of genocide and ethnic cleansing that is taking place with political and military partnership and cover and American support and green light, and reveals that the claims of the entity and its criminal army about the existence of safe areas in the Gaza Strip are pure lies and misleading deception, as reality confirms that thousands of “our people’s martyrs have ascended in shelters and displacement centers”, the group said.
For the Democratic Front, the Mawasi massacre confirms once again the fascism of the occupation and its insistence on crimes of genocide.
“This crime did not occur except with the support and partnership of the United States of America and the silence of some Arab and Western capitals.
“The delay of the Prosecutor General of the International Criminal Court, Karim Khan, in issuing arrest warrants against Netanyahu, his Minister of War, Galant, and his fascist gang encourages them to continue the massacres”, the group said.
