DUBAI – There are indications that the problems with the social media app, Telegram are not far from over.
We gathered that the office of the media organisation in Dubai has been under lock and key since the news of arrest of its founder Pavel Durov hit the internet just as Indonesia considers clamping on the app.
There are reports that no employee is seen around the office neither are their contact information found in the security contact directory.
This is happening just as Indonesia is pressing for a thorough probe of the app.
Communication and Informatics Minister Budi Arie Setiadi says Indonesia is considering blocking Telegram and the live-streaming app Bigo Live, citing the alleged role the apps have played in spreading pornography and promoting online gambling, the Jakarta Post reports.
The ministry claims the platforms have failed to adequately address the concerns, prompting the potential ban.
Meanwhile in France, Pavel Durov is on bail to the tune of 5 million Euros.
He is to report to the investigating officers forthnightly. He is not allowed to leave France.
