LOKOJA – There are indications that the Ajaokuta Steel Complex will bounce back to reckoning and kick off Nigerian quest for industrialisation.
This is coming following arrival of a team of Russians, comprising both technical and audit team to Nigeria.
According to Nigerian Television Authority, NTA, the advance Russian team, comprising twenty three Russians arrived Ajaokuta for technical audit with a team of Engineers.
NTA reported that some analog equipment in the plant will be replaced with digital ones for effective operation.
NTA said the sole administrator of Ajaokuta Steel Company, Sumaila Abdul-Akaba who confirmed the development said the team has visited several units including thermal power plant, light mills Section and the Oxygen Plant unit.
The Ajaokuta Steel Company was originally built by the Russians but some sections were not completed before they left for issues traced to the Nigerian authorities.
Efforts to bring Russians back had largely been unsuccessful due to lack of political will which has hampered Nigerian quest for industrialisation.
