JEDDAH –The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has kicked against recent statements made by extremist Minister Ben-Gvir, which advocated for the building of a synagogue within the sacred Al-Aqsa Mosque.
In a statement, the OIC denounced the ongoing incursions and desecration of the mosque’s courtyards by extremist settler groups and ministers in the Israeli occupation government.
The OIC said these acts are carried out under the protection of Israeli occupation forces and constitutes continual violations of the sanctity of holy places and freedom of worship by Israel, as well as a blatant breach of the Geneva Conventions and international law.
The organization reaffirmed that Al-Quds is an integral part of the Palestinian territories occupied in 1967 and serves as the capital of the State of Palestine.
It emphasizes that all decisions and measures taken by the Israeli occupation to Judaize the occupied city of Al-Quds have no legal standing and are considered null and void under international law and resolutions of international legitimacy.
Furthermore, the OIC also holds the Israeli occupation government fully accountable for the consequences of these ongoing violations and systematic attacks, which not only provoke the sentiments of Muslims worldwide but also risk fueling religious conflict, extremism, and instability in the region. The organization also renews its call on the international community to take responsibility and intervene to halt these serious Israeli violations, and to safeguard the historical and legal status of Islamic and Christian holy sites in the occupied city of Al-Quds.
