BRAZIL – The X social media platform, formerly known as Twitter controlled by billionaire Elon Musk is in trouble and may be suspended in Brazil over lack of legal representation in the highest court of the land.
We gathered that Justice Alexandre De Morales of the Brazilian Supreme Court threatened to suspend X if Elon Musk does not appoint new legal representative in a case before him.
The judge said the suspension will take place within 24 hours and that it will affect operation of the platform in the country if Elon Musk fails to comply.
This follows a recent dispute between Musk and the judge, who previously accused the billionaire of threatening the company’s previous legal representative for alleged failure to follow instruction.
“In the event of non-compliance with the order, the decision provides for the suspension of the social network’s activities in Brazil,” Alexandre de Moraes said.
Recall that X said on Saturday it would close its operations in Brazil “effective immediately” due to what it called “censorship orders” from Brazilian judge Alexandre de Moraes.
X claims Moraes secretly threatened one of its legal representatives in Brazil with arrest if it did not comply with legal orders to take down some content from its platform.
