3 killed, auto companies halt production as typhoon Shanshan hits Japan

KYUSHU, Japan – A strong wind with torrential rain, classified as Typhoon Shanshan has  hit Kyushu, a Japanese Island killing at least three people,  while dozens of others  have been declared missing.

According to reports, the typhoon which caused extensive damage in the island affected electrical infrastructure throwing the whole island into total darkness with any form of electricity.

The overwhelming flood resulted in landslides in the area, which destroyed many homes, forcing the authority to issue emergency warning for others in low land to evacuate.

So far, over 255,000 houses are currently without power.

Reuters reported that so many car manufacturing companies have suspended production in their domestic plants. Companies affected include Nissan, Toyota and Honda.

Semiconductor firm, Renesas, Tokyo electron company and Rohm have all temporarily suspended production as a result of the storm.
