GAZA, Palestine – The armed wing of the Palestinian Liberation Organisation, Hamas has sent a new proposal to mediators for a ceasefire in Gaza.

In a statement, a member of Hamas Political Bureau, Hossam Badran said the group is keen to reach agreement to stop the war and that communication with mediators is in progress.

“We are keen to reach an agreement to stop the war and our communication with the mediators continues”, Hamas said, adding “we exchanged some ideas with the mediators with the aim of stopping the war and comprehensive withdrawal from the Gaza Strip”.

Hamas said it is not strict in demands during the negotiations the occupation is trying to confuse and evade.

“The enemy knows that putting pressure on the movement’s leadership and constant threats is of no use”.

It added that successive American administrations were completely biased towards the occupation’s position.

“I advise all our people not to deal with the enemy’s statements, which are among his various tools of war.

“We are the party most keen to end the war, and our primary concern is to achieve the basic demands of our people, upon which there is a national consensus”.
