LAGOS, Nigeria – Super Eagles Coach, Finidi George is rumoured to have resigned from his job few days after a wobbling performance in CAF qualifying match that saw the Eagles losing 2-1 to Benin Republic.
Finidi George has not issued any statement to the effect that he has resigned, neither has the Nigerian Football Federation, NFF, but former Spokesman of the Super Eagles, Mr. Toyin Ibitoye said on his X page that news reaching him shows the coach has resigned.
“News just in. Finidi George #FinidiGeorge_FG has resigned from his #NGSuperEagles manager position”, he said. Finidi George has also not refuted this rumour of his resignation.
The story of his resignation hit the media just as Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, who played for Napoli has said he has lost respect for Finidi George.
The striker who was very furious spoke via an online video, wherein he explained that he asked Finidi George to allow him stay with the players, but that he was told not to bother and that he should stay with his family after he obtained his MRI result.
He said “I should stay with my family, now after two bad games, he is blaming me. I know how many injuries I have suffered playing for Nigeria and I played my heart out, but after two bad games everybody is attacking me”, Victor Osimhen said, adding that he has lost respect for the Finidi George and that people should stop spoiling his name.
