Kano state recruiting 10,000 teachers

KANO – The Kano State Government has declared a state of emergency in the education sector and reiterated its desire to recruit 10,000 teachers as part of an effort to breathe life into the educational sector.
In a statement, the Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf said the level of decay in educational institutions and system in the state can only be remedied through a wholesome work.
“Today, we took the bold step of declaring a State of Emergency on Education in Kano State.
“This will see the recruitment of additional 10,000 teachers and the building of 28,264 classrooms in the next few years across the state, among other interventions.
“The level of decay in educational institutions and system structure in the state can only be remedied through this wholesome work.
“I hope that everyone will join hands with us to achieve this task”.
The Kano State Government will in addition recruit 1000 academic and non-academic staff into tertiary institutions in Kano State.
The governor said he will also present full employment to 5, 632 BESDA teachers in the state and pay enrollment fees for students in NECO and related examination.
He is also presenting scholarship to indigenes of Kano State in tertiary institutions.
