577 die performing Hajj 1445 in Saudi Arabia
SAUDI ARABIA – Not less than 577 Muslims performing the yearly Hajj in Saudi Arabia died this year.
According to AFP, most of them died in the streets as a result of the heatwave despite efforts made by authority in Saudi Arabia to ameliorate the heat using technology to dispatch ice and cold wind into the atmosphere.
Some of the deceased could however not rent decent accommodation in hotels whose rates seems to have exceeded what the common person desiring to fulfill this holy pilgrimage could afford. They have to spend the period sleeping in the streets.
This development and many others has made critics to dub the @1445 Hajj as the worst so far.
However at the concluding ceremony, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah celebrated what it called the successful completion of the Hajj season for #1445_AH_Hajj.
The event honoured distinguished Hajj Offices, recognizes award recipients, and unveils early preparations for the upcoming 1446 AH Hajj season.
