Pomp and pageantry as Olojodu celebrates 5th coronation anniversary

OJODU, Lagos – The town of Ojodu Abiodun, today, plays host to dignitaries and people from all walks of life who converged on the domain of His Royal Majesty, Alayeluwa Oba Samuel Olusegun Shobowale-Benson Onigbakule-Lubajo I the Olojodu of Ojodu Land in commemoration of his 5th Coronation Anniversary.
For Oba Shobowale-Benson, the anniversary provides an opportunity to appraise the last five years on the throne as the 2nd crowned traditional ruler of the status of an Oba in Ojodu Abiodun kingdom in recorded history of the town.
In his anniversary speech, the Olojodu remarked: “today, I sincerely have every cause to give praise and glory to God Almighty for granting our prayers at my installation five years ago and the privilege to witness the milestone event of my 5th Coronation Anniversary. It is heart-warming to note that concerted efforts have been made in concert with progressive elements with whom I have established a synergy to ensure peace, progress, tranquility as much as we have continuously seek ways of improving on the various facets of our society to give our people in Ojodu Abiodun and by extension in the adjoining communities, a sense of belonging”
The Lisa of Ojodu Land and Apashe General of Awori Kingom, High Chief Taofeeq Basheru Isiaka gave kudos to the Oloju for his steadfast visionary drive which has endeared him to the chiefs and Ojodu Abiodun kingdom
In his goodwill message, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Engr.) Sulaiman Bamgbade (Ayodele III) Arole Olofin Ogunfunminire The Olofin of Isheri & Adimula of Awori Kingdoms, extolled the virtue of loyalty that is the flagship of the attributes of Oba Shobowale-Benson.
The weeklong anniversary was unveiled with a parade by masquerades followed by paying of homage by different groups societies, games and installation of nine honourary chieftaincy title holders into the rank of Olojodu-in-Council.
