Freedom at last for Daniel Ojukwu, FIJ reporter

LAGOS, – Investigative journalist with Foundation for Investigative Journalism, FIJ,Mr. Daniel Ojukwu can now heave a sigh of relief following his release by Force Criminal Investigative Department, FCID.
He was picked up on May 1, 2024 in Lagos and moved to FCID Abuja, where he was held incommunicado. Daniel was released earlier today after spending nine days in police detention.
He was abducted for the story he did on procurement fraud involving Senior Special Assistant to the President on SDGs Mr. Adejoke Orelope- Adefulire.
In the story, Ojukwu reported that the former Deputy Governor of Lagos State paid N147.1 million from Federal Government purse into the account of a restaurant to build blocks of classrooms and skill acquisition centre in a primary school in Lagos.
Daniel Ojukwu who was seen in the warm embrace of his friends and colleagues, said it has been an overwhelming past few days and that it may take a while for him to fully come to terms with all that has happened so far.
“But I appreciate everyone who stood by me and lent a voice. I cannot be more grateful to every individual, group, organisation and entity. Thank you”, he said.
Ojukwu was abducted in Lagos and moved to Abuja.
