ABA, Abia, Nigeria – It has been a season of commendations for residents of Aba commercial city, including landlords, market traders associations and other stakeholders, lauding Abia governor, Dr Alex Otti’s administration, on its developmental strides as it clocks one year in office.
Leading the pack is the state traders association (ASMATA), whose leadership said the Governor, had in the 12 months of his administration, impacted positively on rebuilding the state infrastructures, especially roads network, healthcare facilities and paying huge salaries and pension areas owed workers and pensioners.
In a statement signed by its president general, Chief Alphonsus Udeigbo, ASMATA, said: “your one year in office which has brought tremendous infrastructural and human development in the state, has given Abia children hope and a sense of glorious and indeed, bright future.
“Every sector, especially the education section has witnessed the grand touch of your humane leadership.”
While lauding the prompt and regular payment of civil servants’ salaries and pension, which according to Udeigbo, has made it easier for them to train their children and wards, the body prayed to God to continue to direct the governor and his foot soldiers in order to continue the good work without distraction.
On its part, the Eziukwu Road market traders, commended Otti, for reconstructing the main road linking the market with other parts of the town, which was abandoned for over 30 years, within his first two months in office.
“Our Governor, you started and commissioned the road that leads into Eziukwu Road Market just within 60 days. This is unprecedented for a road that has remained impassable for more than 20 years.
“The massive infrastructural projects and road construction all over the state and mainly P. H Rd have endeared you to Abians of goodwill. Dilapidated school blocks and other public facilities are currently being reconstructed.
“There is a feeling of fresh air in Abịa State and hope is here at last. Abians appreciate you immensely on your giant strides as you hurry to return the state to the forefront of Nigeria’s economic development and growth.”
