GAZA, Palestine – The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor says it has documented new testimonies of Israeli Defence Forces, IDF looting and plundering resources including physical cash and jewelries in their genocidal war in Gaza.
The group said such looting and plundering of Palestinian resources were documented in the vicinity of Al-Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza City.
“We documented looting operations of money and properties including valuable items from the Palestinians and their homes when they were forcibly displaced from them or when their homes were burned and destroyed by the occupation forces”, the group said.
It noted that the occupation army overlooks, and sometimes encourages, its soldiers to loot valuable items and money from the Palestinians and their homes without holding them accountable, often without official documentation.
“Many homes that were subjected to looting and theft were burned by the soldiers or were bombed and destroyed as part of a policy based on collective revenge and the dehumanization and denationalization of Palestinians”, the group said.
Doctor Yahya Khalil Deeb Al-Kayali told the monitoring team that an officer from the occupation army informed him – during the raid on his home – that all the money, jewelry, and gold belonging to him and his relatives would be distributed among the soldiers.
According to the group, clips posted by “israeli” soldiers on social media document their deliberate destruction of civilian homes in Gaza and burning them, in addition to boasting about seizing money and valuable possessions.
“We call for a comprehensive and impartial international investigation into the serious violations committed by the occupation army against the Palestinians and their properties in the Gaza Strip, which constitute war crimes in themselves, and inflict destruction and severe damage on civilians and their livelihoods without justification or military necessity”, the group said.
