UNIZik VC warns fresh students against cultism, rape, others

AWKA, Nigeria – Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Prof Charles Esimone has warned the newly matriculated students of the institution against cultism.
Esimone gave the warning at the 2023/2024 Matriculation Ceremony for fresh undergraduate students of the Institution.
According to the VC, membership of cult organizations in the Institution is an anathema and it attracts outright expulsion.
“Any cult activity is anathema in the University. All proven cultists are expelled. Other deviant behavior such as robbery, rape and others are not tolerated, for there are gross misconduct and crime punishable by expulsion from the University with possible terms of imprisonment ” he stated
According to him any student found to have registered with fake certificates will be expelled from the university.
He said examination misconduct is another serious offence that could fetch a student suspension for up to three years or even more.
The Vice Chancellor further stated that attendance to lectures must be at least 75 percent as well as practice in order to qualify a student to write examinations.
He recalled that at his inception as the Vice Chancellor his dream was to make the university rank among the best 200 universities in the world and that he is glad that his aim has been achieved to the best of his ability.
