Nigeria beats South Africa 4-2 on penalty, moves into finals

BOUAKE – The Super Eagles of Nigeria today in Buoake, beat South Africa 4-2 on penalty to move into the finals of the African Cup of Nations in Bouake, Cote d’ Ivoire.
South Africa equalised, also through penalty pushing the game into penalty kicks.
The very tactical game ended in goalless at half time after an exhaustive play dominated by South Africa in terms of ball possession.
But Nigeria came in more determined in the second half but it was in the 67th minutes when the efforts of Nigeria materialized, when the South African side fowled Victor Osimhen in box 18 forcing the referee to point to the penalty box after satisfying himself with VAR assessment.
The South African equaliser came in the 90th minutes through Mokoena, also through a penalty shoot out, forcing the game into 120 minutes of play before penalty kicks which favoured the Nigerian side, with a 4-2 goal aggregate.
