Mohbad, the indefinite wait for autopsy report: Who is fooling who?
But do not despair, perhaps, officials of the Lagos State Government traveled to the United State via the Atlantic Ocean, in which case, it took them (14) fourteen weeks, travel time plus duration of clearance at the port of arrival

IKEJA, Lagos, Nigeria – Today, Monday, January 15, 2024 makes it over four months since Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Promise Aloba(27) better known as Mohbad, the very promising Afrobeat singer died.
Suspicion about police culpability in the delay in acting on his petition regarding threat to his life by Sam Larry, alleged to be a son of the prominent Eletu Odibo family at Elegushi Beach in June and the voice recording of Sam Larry’s conversation with his principal, Abdulazeez Fashola, better known as Naira Marley, former boss of Mohbad, to the effect that “All Police Stations Settled, No case to answer”, on death of Mohbad fueled series of protests and agitations from prominent Nigerians including Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mr. Femi Falana, forcing the police to settle down for an autopsy.
Mohbad’s body was exhumed for autopsy 21 of September 2023. However, police investigation showed that the musician died September 12, 2023, just two days after he was attacked allegedly by Sam Larry on September 10, 2023 at his show in Ikorodu Lagos. Yet, 104 days after, the result of the autopsy is not ready.
At a Coroner hearing at Ita-Elewa, Ikorodu on November 22, 2023, Lagos State Counsel Mr. O. Akinde informed Magistrate Adetayo Shotobi, the Coroner, that the autopsy on the external body of the deceased has been completed. But that the toxicology test, examining the internal body, is undergoing processes in the US. Let’s assume the sample left the shore of Nigeria same day, the information was made available to the nosy journalists at Ikorodu.
I have been reliably informed that flights between Lagos and the United States takes approximately 13 hours, while it takes six to eight weeks to make the same journey by the sea.
My research also showed that autopsies usually takes two to four hours to perform in the United States. My investigations also uncovered that preliminary results can be released within 24 hours, but that the full results of an autopsy may take up to six weeks to prepare.
That means that from the layman’s perspective, if officials of the Lagos State Government travelled by plane to the United States, it should take at most six(6) weeks for them to obtain the comprehensive report and make it available to Nigerian youths who have been agitating for this result to put closure on the death of Mohbad, their idol.
By the above permutation, the autopsy result ought to have been available latest November 7. This is because 6 weeks from from September 21 brings you to November 7, 2023.
But as it is, both officials of the the Nigeria Police Force and the Lagos State Government have kept mute on this sensitive issue since then.
But do not despair, perhaps, officials of the Lagos State Government traveled to the United State via the Atlantic Ocean, in which case, it took them (14) fourteen weeks, travel time plus duration of clearance at the port of arrival.
If this is true, Mohbad autopsy should have been available by first week of January 2024, which is 14 weeks by the calculation but as it is nothing seems to be forth coming, fueling the question, who is fooling who?
Could it be that the Lagos State Government has received the report and deliberately withholding it from interested members of the public because of the alleged connection of one Prince Sam Larry to the Eletu Odibo family?
Could it be that the state is with holding it because it feels that disclosing it now will be subjudice, following the ongoing Coroner at Ikorodu and waiting to disclose it at the next siting of the Coroner or could it be that the state government is just playing on the intelligence of Nigerians?
Only time will tell.
