Unizik releases 6000 fresh graduates at the 17th convocation
AWKA, Anambra, Nigeria – Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Anambra State on Thursday released 6000 fresh graduates into the society.
The Vice Chancellor of the University Prof Charles Okechukwu Esimone who disclosed this at the 17th convocation ceremony of the institution stated that 4707 persons were conferred with postgraduate certificates and honorary doctorate degrees on Friday.
Esimone who gave what appeared as his valedictory speech as Vice Chancellor of the University said that he had almost achieved all his projections for the institution on assumption into office.
Esimone said the achievements of the university are anchored on his Project 200 which he inaugurated on assumption of office, aimed at making the university the best in Nigeria among others.
Esimone whose tenure expires June 2024 said the university serves as a reservoir from where skilled manpower both academic and non academics are distributed all over the world.
According to him, UNIZIK has been the hub of distributing top skilled workforce to the rest of the country’s institutions. Esimone said under his reign, Stanford University, United States of America ranking of world scientists for 2022 included two lecturers of the university.
The Vice Chancellor also said that lecturers of the university translated probiotic infographics into Igbo language, the first African Language among the world languages into Igbo language.
He disclosed that the university has several members of staff serving as top academic and non academic positions such as Vice Chancellors in other states and federal universities.
According to him, the Vice Chancellor of Olivia University, Bujumbura, Burundi was drawn from the university
The Chancellor of the university, His Majesty Da Jacob Gyang Buba, the Gbong Gwom Jos commended the Vice Chancellor for the numerous projects he has executed.
