3 injured as explosion rocks residential building in Germany

When the fire department arrived, the woman was lying in the street seriously injured before being taken to hospital with burns.

Two residents from the neighbouring house were initially treated on site by emergency services and were taken to hospital with minor injuries. Three other people were also treated by the emergency services on site but were uninjured.

“The street is a scene of devastation, everything is full of debris and broken glass,” said the fire department spokesperson.

The cause of the explosion was initially unclear. According to initial findings, the incident started at around 10:15 pm (2115 GMT) in an apartment on the first floor. From there, the fire spread to the other apartments in the building. The house and a neighbouring building were damaged.
