Zakito Umar, LG Chairman nabbed with cash, laptop, ammunitions in Kogi

LOKOJA – Chairman of Igalamela Local Government, Mr. Zakito Umar was this morning arrested with his team during the governorship election in Kogi State.

Items found on him and his gang, when they were stopped by soldiers were hundreds of ammunitions, cash in bags and laptops.

It’s is not clear what the mission of the chairman is.

The Kogi State Government assured few days before the election that there will be security of lives and property during the election and called on all to come out and vote.

Already, fake results sheets have surfaced in Kogi State even before commencement of voting.

The pre-filled results were discovered in PU 004, Eni Ward of Ogori/magongo in Kogi and in PU 020, Eika/Ohizenyi, Okehi LGA of Kogi state before commencement of voting.

Reacting to the development, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC said it is viewing the situation seriously.

“Our attention has been drawn to a report that filled result sheets were discovered in some polling units in Kogi State.

“The Commission views this situation seriously. Our senior officials deployed to the State are currently investigating the incident(s).

“The Commission will communicate its decision earnestly”, INEC said.
