Skating coach, Jutta Muller with 60 medals dies at 94
BERLIN – Most decorated German figure and skating coach Jutta Müller is dead. She was 94. She died in a nursing home in Berlin, her daughter Gaby Seyfert told dpa on Thursday.
Müller was considered one of the most successful figure skating coaches in the world. From the mid-1960s onwards, she won almost 60 gold, silver and bronze medals at international competitions in three decades.
Müller celebrated Olympic victories with Anett Pötzsch (1980) and Katarina Witt (1984 and 1988). With her daughter, Müller won Olympic silver in 1968 and two world championship titles in 1969 and 1970.
“The figure skating world loses one of the greatest coaching personalities,” said Andreas Wagner, president of the German ice skating union.
