BEIJING, China – The Ministerial Committee mandated by the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit and chaired by HRH Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, has held a meeting with H.E Mr. Han Zheng, Vice-President of the People’s Republic of China, on 20 November 2023 in the Chinese capital, Beijing.
The meeting was initiated towards ending the needless bloodbath in Gaza since Israel invaded the Gaza Strip since the October 7 Hamas surprise attack on Israel.
The meeting focused on the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and its neighboring areas. It emphasized protecting civilians, critical infrastructure, including hospitals and places of worship. Specific incidents like the storming of Al-Shifa Hospital and attacks on Indonesian and Jordanian medical facilities were discussed.
The Ministers stressed the immediate necessity to halt military escalation, prevent forced displacement of Palestinians, establish safe corridors for urgent humanitarian aid delivery, and revive the peace process based on international resolutions. They advocated for the rights of Palestinians and the establishment of an independent state with East Al-Quds as its capital.
The Vice-President Han Zheng expressed China’s appreciation for the efforts of the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit and its resolutions aimed at de-escalation, protecting civilians, and restoring peace efforts. China reiterated its support for the Ministerial Committee’s efforts and urged continued diplomatic engagement.
China highlighted its active role since the Gaza crisis outbreak, advocating strongly for a ceasefire, protection of civilians, facilitating humanitarian aid, and seeking a just resolution to the Palestinian Cause. It emphasized a willingness to collaborate with Arab and Islamic nations to expedite a ceasefire in Gaza.
The Ministerial Committee members praised China’s alignment with Arab and Islamic positions concerning the Gaza crisis. They particularly acknowledged China’s supportive role within the Security Council to advocate for a ceasefire in Gaza.
