Tinubu speaks as son, others barge into FEC meeting
ABUJA, Nigeria -President Bola Tinubu has issued a stern warning to his son, Seyi, and other individuals regarding their interference in the meetings of the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
The President expressed his concern over unauthorized individuals entering and exiting the weekly federal cabinet meetings, where crucial national matters are discussed.
He specifically cautioned against such activities, stating, “Last week, I noticed the undue access of people sneaking in and out of this Council, including… I saw the photograph of my son, Seyi, sitting behind. That is not acceptable. I will announce to you those people who are supposed to be here.”
President Tinubu proceeded to name the individuals who have permission to attend these meetings, including his Special Advisers on Policy Coordination, Hadiza Usman; Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga; Principal Private Secretary, Hakeem Muri-Okunola; and Private Secretary, Damilotun Aderemi. He emphasized that these individuals are the only ones allowed to be present during the Council’s deliberations unless specifically invited.
Furthermore, President Tinubu praised the bilateral and business meetings that took place with German government and business officials, led by Chancellor Olaf Scholz of the Republic of Germany. He thanked his ministers for their participation and urged them to think creatively to expedite the necessary reforms to attract investors.
“Yesterday, we had a very good showing and I thank all of you for sparing your Sunday to attend the national event. The visit of the Chancellor of the Republic of Germany was, to me, a success. We needed more time, but we were able to cover a lot of ground and must take our reforms seriously; the investors are interested in us… As I said, investors and investment are cowardly; they don’t follow conflicts. Think outside the box, how we can do things better,” Tinubu emphasized.
