MUNICH – Bayern Munich are not giving up on getting England captain Harry Kane and according to Sky Sports UK have negotiated with his club Tottenham Hotspur until the early hours of Wednesday.

Sky Sports Germany meanwhile said the Bundesliga champions were also set to table a fourth offer in the region of €110 million (€120 million) on Wednesday, plus add-ons.

The broadcasters also said that Bayern defender Benjamin Pavard was in talks with Manchester United to take the place of Harry Maguire who seems set to leave Old Trafford for West Ham United.

Kane has one year left on his contract at Spurs who are said to want £100 million ($127 million) for the 30-year-old.

Kane reportedly wants clarity about his future before the weekend start of the Premier League season and is now said to be leaning towards staying because he likes the philosophy of new Spurs coach Ange Postecoglou.

However, Spurs leaders don’t want to lose him for free in 2024, and, with Kane yet to sign a renewal, would prefer an exit now to generate a substantial fee, according to other reports.

Bayern reportedly had three previous offers, of €70, €80 and €87 million respectively, rejected by Spurs.

The Bundesliga champions have made Kane their top transfer target after the current squad was unable to make up for last year’s departure of Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona.

Bayern are also after England defender Kyle Walker who however now appears set to stay at Premier League champions Manchester City.

That could complicate matters for France international Pavard who has been at Bayern since 2019 but doesn’t want to renew his contract which runs until 2024 and would like to leave in this transfer window.

Sky said that United and Pavard are working on personal terms but Kicker sports magazine said Bayern bosses expect him to stay, also because he is versatile and can play as full back and centre back.

Bayern start the new season on Saturday with the German Super Cup against Cup winners RB Leipzig. They open the Bundesliga season six days later away to Werder Bremen.
