Toppmöller assesses Eintracht Frankfurt after succeeding Glasner
BAYERN – New Eintracht Frankfurt coach Dino Toppmöller wants to keep building on the “positive developement of the last few years” at the Bundesliga club.
“That’s why it’s important that everyone comes in with a certain level of commitment and passion,” the coach said during his presentation on Friday.
“When you see the successes that have been celebrated here in recent years, it’s only right to have high standards. It is important to grow together as quickly as possible and to implement these things,” he said referring to the Europa League title in 2022 and the German Cup in 2018.
Frankfurt signed Toppmöller as their new coach until 2026. He succeeds Oliver Glasner who has left after two seasons.
It is his first head coach job in the Bundesliga. He was previously assistant of former Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig coach Julian Nagelsmann.
“I was able to learn a lot from Julian Nagelsmann, and we had a positive impact on each other in terms of expertise. It’s clear that after three years of working together, you take on one or two things,” Toppmöller said.
Sporting director Markus Krösche said that the goal is to play regularly at international competitions. “And we want to go as far as possible in the Conference League and in the German Cup,” he said.
Krösche added that he expects top forward Randal Kolo Muani to stay at the club.
“Randal has a long-term contract with us. We’re not expecting him to leave and also don’t need to set any deadline, because he never said he wants to leave the club,” he said.
Kolo Muani scored 15 goals in the 2022-23 Bundesliga season, while also providing 16 assists. Several European top clubs have been interested in signing the player, including German record champions Bayern Munich.
