Football ruling body DFB to cut annual deficit by €15 million
BERLIN – The German Football Federation (DFB) said on Tuesday it is aiming to lower its structural deficit by €15 million ($16.4 million) to €4.5 million per year.
The DFB said the decision of its leadership followed recommendations from internal working groups which over the past months identified areas in which savings can be made.
The DFB did not say where less money is to be spent but said that further measures are planned to erase this deficit completely.
“We have embarked on a consistent path of budget consolidation, based on which we have responsibly and farsightedly adjusted the existing budgets and further planning,” DFB treasurer Stephan Grunwald said.
The DFB came under financial pressure in recent years in connection with legal cases and lack of success of the men’s national team.
