PDP slams INEC for rising in defence of propriety of Sanwo-Olu’s WAEC certificate
LAGOS, Nigeria- The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC came under fire and ridicule by candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Mr. Azeez Adediran at the ongoing Governorship Elections Tribunal in Lagos for choosing to be partisan in a disputed election petition.
The PDP candidate who was being cross examined as a star witness in the case was shocked when counsel to INEC confronted him with the result of his online search on the website of the West African Examination Council, WAEC which returned negative results for the candidate in question.
INEC’s lead counsel, Adetunji Oyeyipo had tendered the document before the court and asked the petitioner to show if it was the result of his private investigation.
The petitioner affirmed but INEC probed further on return of error result to which the petitioner responded. But INEC legal team probed further asking if the petitioner worked for WAEC or INEC at a time.
Again, the petitioner said no. But INEC replied by saying why are you speaking as though you worked for WAEC and INEC.
The petitioner replied: Why are you also speaking for APC.
Earlier the petitioner had informed the court that it was the legal team of APC he expected to cross examined him on his findings on propriety of the WAEC certificate of Sanwo-Olu and not INEC.
WAEC subpoenaed to appear on the issue today was not represented in court.
