Confusion as Chairman AIRS, Soludo’s tax man resigns
AWKA, Anambra, Nigeria – Confusion as Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of Anambra State Internal Revenue Service, (AiRS) Mr. Richard Nwora Madiebo resigned from Prof Charles Soludo government.
Madiebo resigned on Thursday afternoon, following what some insiders described as power tussle between him and Executive Director of the revenue body , Dr Christian Madubuko.
It was alleged that there has been clash of orders and counter orders between Maduebo and Madubuko over revenue generation in the state.
Madubuko, a former Commissioner for transport in the state had last week gave a contrary order to Chief Executive officer of the board .
In his resignation announcement, this afternoon ,he did not give any reason for leaving Soludo’s government at a time he is needed to help the government to raise its IGR.
Madiebo shared the news of his resignation with staff of the agency at Revenue House, Agu Awka on Thursday afternoon.
A source at the meeting said Mr Madiebo told the staff that he had already informed Governor Charles Charles Soludo about his resignation. He did not give any reason for departing from the position, although he hinted that he had informed the governor when he was taking the job that he would only serve for a year.
The source also said that there are speculations on other possible reasons for his resignation to include clash in responsibilities with Dr. Christian Madubuko, a former Commissioner under Governor Willie Obiano who was appointed an Executive Director of AIRS by Governor Soludo months ago.
When contacted the Executive Director Dr Christian Madubuko said that he has no face off with Madiebo ,adding that they have been working harmoniously with the former Chief Executive Officer.
“I just came into the revenue house this afternoon to hear that Madiebo has resigned and we do not know why he resigned and those alleging that we have issues or power tussle are being mischievous”
“We have been working harmoniously and we have our targets as specified by Mr Governor Charles Soludo and we have been working hard to meet those targets” he stated.
