Seun Kuti slaps, assaults gentle police officer on Third Mainland bridge
LAGOS, Nigeria – It appears, the young heir of the Anikulapo Kuti family Seun Kuti is set for a brush with the Nigeria Police. He is really in deep trouble that could ruin his name and his struggling career.
The musician who has been at loggerhead with Peter Okoye of Psquare over his support for Peter Obi was seen in viral video slapping and assaulting a policeman, one of the members of the Rapid Response Squad, RRS drafted to the Third Mainland Bridge to secure lives and property.
Seun Kuti who was visibly angry, was asking the gentle police officer, “You de craze, you de mad”, slapping and shoving the officer, who was not armed and did not retaliate.
It is not clear what would have pushed him this far, but in the video Seun is the assailant, pushing and shoving the police officer.
Could it be that Seun Kuti is looking for media hype, which went in favour of Portable, after he had a brush with the Nigeria Police?
If that is what he is looking for, Seun must be told that his legendary father, the Abami Edi, Fela Anikulapo Kuti never assaulted policemen, neither did he assault the army despite the fact that he was assaulted severally and his dear mother killed after she was thrown down from a three storey building.
Fela’s lethal weapon was his music, much like the pen is to the journalist. With his music, he hit the very being of his assailants, no wonder he was crowned as the King of Afrobeat.
The police, led by current IGP, Alkali Baba Ahmed will defintely not take this litely. He has stood up gallantly behind innocent Nigerians who are being assaulted by policemen and he is not expected to do less when his men are assaulted.
In the past, the IGP has given order that all those assaulting policemen on duty be prosecuted promptly to serve as deterrent to others.
Seun Kuti has touched the eyeball of the IGP and would definitely not escape his wrath.
