MDCN visits Gregory University for third clinical accreditation

UTURU, Abia – Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) has visited Gregory University Uturu for the Third Clinical Accreditation of the 5th MBBS programme of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences.

The visit was to ensure that the university graduates first medical scholars soonest. It is also make sure that the university produces competent and well-trained medical professionals who can provide quality healthcare services to Nigerians.

Members of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) led by the Registrar of the Council, Dr. T.AB. Sanusi arrived at the University for the third clinical accreditation visit of the 5th MBBS programme within the College of Medicine and Health Science.

The 14-member MDCN team, comprising accomplished professionals and experts from various domains within the field of medicine, arrived on Wednesday at the University, marking the beginning of a comprehensive assessment process, to evaluate the quality and effectiveness of the medical program, ensuring that it meets the highest standards of excellence and quality.

Amidst an atmosphere of enthusiasm and anticipation, the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Augustine Uwakwe extended a warm welcome to the MDCN team and expressed his gratitude to the council for their commitment, expertise, guidance and dedication towards maintaining the highest standards in medical education.

He emphasized the importance of the accreditation visit in ensuring that the University graduates its first medical scholars as well as produce competent and well-trained medical professionals who can provide quality healthcare services to Nigerians.

He further assured them of the university’s commitment to providing quality and comprehensive medical education and pledged the full cooperation of the college and staff during the accreditation process.

Also present to receive the members of the council were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administrations, Prof. Evaristus Anyaehie, The Registrar of the University, Mr. Chukwuemeka Mpamah, The University Librarian, Prince Ikpo Okoroafor, The University Bursar, Dr. Steve Nwaimo, The Provost of the College of Medicine, Prof. Nduka Ifeoma and The Ag. Public Relations Officer, Ms. Ebubechi Iwuh.

This visit carries immense importance, as it serves as a crucial milestone in the university’s journey towards maintaining the highest standards of quality and excellence and overall adherence to the MDCN’s stringent accreditation standards.
