Hiding Seun Kuti set to report to police
LAGOS, Nigeria – Afrobeat singer, Seun Anikulapo Kuti who has been evading arrest since the infamous slap on a police officer will report to the Nigeria Police Force on Monday in Lagos.
Men of the police force have been lying in ambush for the musician since the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba gave the order to arrest and promptly prosecute him for slapping and shoving a policeman in a viral video on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos.
Seun Kuti, who recent purchased a new Mercedez Benz SUV will likely show up with human rights lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana, SAN at the Police headquarters in Ikeja, Lagos and he would likely be released to the lawyer on bail on self-recognition.
Speaking to Goldmyntv, the human rights lawyer said Seun Kuti has contacted him to represent him in this case of assault against a police officer on duty.
The lawyer said the musician is armed with evidence of police infractions on his rights, which he hopes to tender to mellow down the degree of his crime but whether or not the evidence will be considered in the face of this public slap on a police officer is another thing altogether.
